"Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,
It is with great pride and responsibility that we come together today to observe Anti-Ragging
Day, celebrated on the 12th of August, and to kick off Anti-Ragging Week, which runs from the
12th to the 18th of August. This week is more than just a formal observance; it is a crucial
reminder of our shared duty to maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all students here
at Annapoorana Medical College and Hospitals, Salem, Tamilnadu.
Ragging is a serious offense that goes against the very ethos of education. It undermines the
values of respect, dignity, and community that we strive to uphold. The Ministry of Education
and the UGC have laid out comprehensive guidelines to help institutions like ours to curb this
menace. These guidelines are not just legal frameworks—they represent our commitment to
protecting the well-being and mental health of every student on our campus.
The theme for this year, #YaARIYouthAgainstRagging, emphasizes the power of youth in leading
this change. It calls upon each one of you to be vigilant, responsible, and courageous in
speaking out against any form of ragging. Your voice and actions can make a significant
difference, not just in your own lives, but in the lives of your juniors and peers.
During this Anti-Ragging Week, let us all take the time to educate ourselves and others about
the harmful impacts of ragging and the measures we can take to prevent it. Participate actively
in the events and discussions, and most importantly, pledge to be a part of the solution.
Together, let us create a campus where every student feels safe, supported, and free to pursue
their dreams without fear. This is our collective responsibility, and I am confident that, with
your support, we can uphold these ideals.
Thank you, and let us make this Anti-Ragging Week a powerful statement of our commitment
to a ragging-free campus."
